Timothy Downing, the principal and founder of the company, is a CPA with over 29 years of experience working in public and private accounting sectors. Before starting his CPA practice in 1999. Mr. Downing served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer for six years at the MFR Group, an international economic research firm, broker/dealer and a registered investment adviser. At MFR, he was responsible for strategic planning and overall day-to-day operations of the company including business planning, SEC and NASD reporting, securing capital, systems design and maintenance and interfacing with outside auditors.
Prior to his experience at MFR, Mr. Downing spent eight years at SFMI, formerly David’s Cookies as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer where he was responsible for all aspects of financing and accounting activities, including budgets, forecasts, product costing, cash management and financial reporting. Functions also included acting as liaison with investors, commercial lenders, outside auditors and distributors.
Tim Downing initiated a complete overhaul of the company by selling all its fixed assets and centered the focus away from money-losing stores into supermarkets and major venues such as WAL-MART. Under the new vision, Mr. Downing was responsible for all aspects of the day to day business operations converting the company to cash flow positive.
Mr. Downing was also Manager of the Audit Department at Bristol-Myers Squibb, where he developed expertise in evaluating and modifying operating and accounting systems. Mr. Downing spent 3 years at the public accounting firm of Ernst & Young supervising staff and performing audits. He received his degree in Economics/Accounting from Rutgers University.
Mr. Downing is a currently a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants for over 25 years and is currently a member of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, and has been in good standing with these institutions for the past 25 years.
